Boat Winterization RSVP

Important Information

The winterization process is needed for all boats that will be sitting for an extended amount of time. Regardless if the facility will be heated or not.

Along with the engine winterization. The boat should be cleaned before storage. That’s to remove any and all moisture that could be built up in the boat’s many crevasses and carpets. This is to assure that mold will have a hard time growing in the off season.

Exterior paint corrections are also very important when winterizing your boat. This will knock off scum and oxidation from your fiberglass. This will appreciate the finish on the boat. If not treated, it will make the job overall more difficult in the following seasons.

Step 1: Antifreeze flush and drain of the engine. Done while engine is running.

Step 2: Fog the cylinders while engine is running. Will stall the engine.

Step 3: Stabilize fuel according to the gallons left in tank.

Step 4: Change the gear lube on the propeller.

Step 6: Disconnect battery terminals and store somewhere dry.

Step 5: Change engine oil (If purchased separately)
